Openstelling St. Vituskerk in de zomermaanden. In de zomerperiode is de Vituskerk elke zaterdagmiddag van 14:00-16.30 uur geopend. Het is in die periode ook mogelijk een afspraak te maken voor een (groeps)rondleiding. U kunt daarvoor contact opnemen via [email protected]. Het kerkgebouw is op Open Monumentendag de hele dag van 10-17 uur geopend.

Oud-katholieke St.-Vituskerk in Hilversum. De oud-katholieke kerk-St.-Vitus werd in 1889 aan het Melkpad gebouwd, naar een ontwerp van de architect P.A. Weeldenburg. De nieuw gebouwde kerk verving de Achterhofsekerk, een schuilkerk aan de rand van het dorp. 3 min.

Hilversum, neugotische St. Vitus Kirche, erbaut von 1891 bis 1892 durch Petrus Josephus Cuypers
Dinsdag 9 januari 2024 vindt in de Vituskerk de jaarlijkse Nieuwjaarsbijeenkomst plaats van de Gemeente Hilversum. De bijeenkomst begint om 19.30 uur en is vrij toegankelijk. De Gemeente nodigt u van harte uit voor deze bijeenkomst in de Vitus om te luisteren naar prachtige muziek van het Radio Filharmonisch Orkest.

De Vituskerk is een neogotische kruisbasiliek en één van de grootste kerken uit het oeuvre van Pierre Cuypers, architect van het Centraal Station en het Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. De toren is 98,3 meter hoog en behoort tot de vier hoogste kerktorens in Nederland. Naast elementen uit de Franse gotiek zijn ook motieven uit de Engelse neogotiek.
