I fitted a steel breech. a large transfer port, a 14'' barrel plus the noise extension and a new polished sear. using CO2 I get 562 feet per second for about 24/26 shots, I was happy with that.

#1. Trigger job. Really needs a better trigger, so you can either tune/adjuste it yourelf or buy one of the aftermarket kits and install that. Is #1 becasue it makes that big a differnce. #2. Steel breech. Even if you never mount a scope/red to, having athe barrel to breech connection be more solid and stable pays off in accuracy. #3.

These mods work specifically with the Crosman 2240, 2250, and 2260. Many of the ideas presented here also apply in one shape or form to other airguns as well. If you combine the following mods with a 24" 2260 barrel, you should be able to achieve high 700's to low 800's depending on pellet weight and temperature.

Solid Brass Main Tubes for Crosman 2240, 2250 and 2260. 2240 series is the 2300 line as well. 2250 series is the 2400 line as well. Pumpers (1322 1377) maybe coming soon. Optionally available are solid brass caps at either end (the piercing stem up front and the hammer cover in the rear).

15 FPE is easy with a few mods. I've got a 2240 with a 12" barrel, HiPac conversion, a few simple valve mods and heavier hammer spring and it's at 15 FPE. My 2400 with the exact same mods with an 18" barrel is at 20 FPE and with the 24" barrel it was right at 25 FPE. With HPA barrel length gets you more energy than just about any other mod.
