1978 Ford CSeries

Classed as medium size delivery trucks, they weighed between 24,000 - 30,000 pounds GVW. Their "set-back" front axles were credited with giving them a tight turning radius. These were more commonly known (to me at least) as "Cab-over" trucks. They were produced for 33 years (1957-1990) without major visual or functional design changes.

Ford produced this style of cab-over truck for a long time. The introductory year was 1957, but these trucks soldiered on with very few styling adjustments until freaking 1990! The look is cool with its forward-control design and a seeming factory chop of the roofline. These guys look really good hauling a big trailer down the road.

Titled as C750 and built using C750 cab and front part of frame joined by professional truck fabricator to C550 rear frame and all C550 suspension, axles and rear end. This is a 391 4v truck engine and 5-speed transmission. The C750 was a fire truck with only about 14000 miles on the odometer. Truck proudly displays its original paint.

They've been described as "helmet-shaped" or called "snubnosed" and were basically modified Ford F-Series trucks and even shared some of the same components. 1956 would be the last year of this approach, though. In 1957, the first tilting cab Ford was introduced and its squared-off styling was all new and not based on the F Series.

The Ford C-series was very much the Ranger pickup of medium duty commercial vehicles with a 33 year reign from 1957 until being retired in 1990. For longest heavy-duty truck production run, only the 39-year run of the Mack Model R can surpass it.
