The new site had a deep hole dug which is part lined with plastic to retain water about three feet down.Two of us moved the large root ball and a couple of hundredweight of soil on a wheelbarrow.It's been watered in and surrounded by good quality soil.covered in straw and styrene against any coming frosts.

AFAIK, G. manicata and G. tinctoria are the only large leafed gunnera species hardy in a temperate UK or BC type climate, I wouldn't consider any other species unless new information comes to light.
