It's rugged beauty is extraordinary! It is another one of the incredible Nabataean sites. Like Petra, you can only reach Siq al-Barid by traveling through a Siq.

Temple above cave rooms. The façade carved out of the rock with an unadorned chamber inside is probably a temple or chapel. The freestanding columns and the two corner pillars are crowned by Nabataean horn capitals. On the ground floor there is a kind of cave dwelling with three rooms, possibly for those who were responsible for the ceremonial.

The Siq al-Barid is best known as Little Petra. At the entry of the canyon you will find first sign of Nabethean civilization, an ornate rock carved tomb just outside the canyon. One of the great things about this attraction is that you don't need a ticket and there are no admission fees. Since it is a free attraction you should buy a coffee.
