Location: Quarry Road, Ferntree Gully, 40 km (approx. 1 hr drive) east of the Melbourne CBD Latitude:-37.888957 Longitude:145.299847 Getting there: From Burwood Highway (route 26), head north into Railway Avenue at Upper Ferntree Gully train station, then immediately left again at Quarry Road. Follow Quarry Road for 700 metres to the top of the hill to the reserve.

We enjoyed our visit. It's a cool experience. For GPS, make sure to Google Map to "The Quarry at Carrigan Farms". We came on a Thurs evening (the 3:45 start time) and got there just before 5:00 PM and the check-in line was short, but it seemed to take quite awhile to get waited on with only one person checking people into the place (we had a reservation).

It is not on a major road and local residents would be the main beneficiaries of it. There is limited parking in Quarry Road. To arrive at water level a series of long zig-zags paths will allow you to gently.

Since Ferntree Gully Quarry is close to me, I visit it regularly, and it is always beautiful. The cliff face left over from the quarry is striking, and the bottom of the quarry has been transformed into a lake. The park has been slowly transformed over the years, and earlier this year they opened access to the lake area itself.
